Her Ph.D. in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics (focus: cryo-electron microscopy and proteins associated with neurodegenerative diseases) was obtained at the Baylor College of Medicine, USA, and her B.Sc. in Biology (focus: neurobiological research) from the James Madison University, Virginia, USA.
